Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on Monday, February 1, while presenting the union budget 2021, announced a digital census. However, Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Chhagan Bhujbal, post the budget pointed out that while making this announcement, the minister ignored the OBC community and has now raised a demand for the same as per caste-wise census. Stressing further, he said that the same should be held in the forthcoming census.

Reacting to the budget, Bhujbal said that the budget does not include farmers, unemployed, employees, small scale industries, etc. The government was expected to make big announcements post the coronavirus pandemic and should have focused on rehabilitating the troubled economy. However, the central government has not made such big announcement, he added.

While presenting the country's budget, FM announced a fund of thousands of crores for the states of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam, but nothing was allocated for other states including Maharashtra.

However, on the other hand, as the Guardian Minister, Chhagan Bhujbal welcomed the provision of INR 2,092 crore for the Metro project in Nashik and said that despite the budget, there is also ambiguity about the same, whereby the centre has not given any explanation about the exact route of this metro.

Adding more, he said that Maharashtra's share of GST arrears should also be paid by the Centre. Thousands of citizens lost their jobs during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and the government has not taken any steps to increase employment opportunities.

Besides this, he also said that the central government has not provided adequate funds for COVID-19 vaccination, which is the need of the hour.
