Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday evening, November 10, for treatment of a cervical problem.

This comes a day after the CM’s aid said that he may undergo a surgery “if the need arises”. He was recently seen wearing a neck brace while attending virtual events.

Releasing an official statement, Thackeray said that he had neglected neck pain in his preoccupation with the government’s battle against coronavirus, and that this had affected his health.

CM also mentioned that Thackeray was getting admitted to a hospital and would likely stay there for two to three days.

He also sought the blessings people for treatment. Sources in the Chief Minister’s Office said he would undergo a surgical procedure.

Earlier, a source close to CM said that his pain had aggravated since the last few days and a medical team was constantly monitoring the development. He is also undergoing routine check-ups. 

In addition, since the last few days, Thackeray developed pain in his legs and back. He had also mentioned this during his meeting with journalists before Diwali.

Moreover, while expressing his concerns over the dropped pace of COVID-19 vaccination, Thackeray had set a target of completing 100% inoculation for first dose by November 30.
