Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray recently launched 4,466 homes for the police personnel under the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) housing scheme. Along with this, the CM also initiated CIDCO’s Shelter Centre (Neutral, Independent Verification Assessment for Allotment) and Khargar Heaven Hills which comprises of residential villas, resorts and naturopathy centres. 

While inaugurating CIDCO’s housing projects via video conference, the Chief Minister also announced allotment letters to 3,670 eligible applicants for the houses. He said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was committed to fulfilling the dream of providing homes for all.   

“This event has been organised on my birthday and it is an unexpected gift for me that common people’s dreams are getting fulfilled on this day. Earlier, the Britishers constructed their residences in places with cool atmosphere. The Khargar Heaven Hills settlement, which is close to the city and 20 minutes away from the proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport, will have an element of a hill station,” Thackeray said. 

On this occasion, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Anil Deshmukh were also present who lauded the efforts and said that this was the first time police personnel were being provided houses through CIDCO.

The Khargar Heaven Hills project will be carried out by CIDCO on 250 acres of area at the top of Khargar Hill. Of the 250 acres, 39 per cent of its area will be left vacant in an effort to maintain environmental balance. 

The CIDCO is also planning to an international standard corporate park in an area of 350 acres. This will have an internal standard football stadium.
