After Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray also announced the cancellation of his birthday celebration owing to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the state. 

In a social media message, Maharashtra Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray said that the coronavirus threat has gripped the state from past two-three months as people fight COVID-19 together. 

“June 13 is my birthday. In the backdrop of coronavirus crisis, I have decided to not celebrate my birthday. Give me blessings on my birthday from wherever you are,” he said while requesting all Shiv Sena workers, leaders to avoid spending on hoardings, flowers and cake. 

The Shiv Sena MLA asked the party workers and leaders to utilise the money to help people suffering during these time due to COVID-19 or donate it to Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF).

“This will make me happy. Please take precautions and cooperate with the government. This will be my birthday gift from you,” he added. 

Earlier, MNS chief Raj Thackeray whose birthday falls on June 14 wrote a letter addressing to his party workers and leaders saying that celebrating a birthday during coronavirus crisis doesn’t feel right. 

In his letter, the MNS supremo announced that he won’t be celebrating his birthday. “So many people have lost their lives and many more are in anguish and suffering as there is no respite from the coronavirus pandemic,” he said. 

While instructing all the party office bearers to not come and wish him personally, Thackeray said that the entire atmosphere was gloomy and sombre and celebrating a birthday during such times doesn’t feel right. 

Thackeray also praised his party workers or “Maharashtra Sainiks” for putting their lives at risk and spending from their pocket to provide assistance to those affected due to the current situation.
