The gang-rape of 19-year-old Dalit girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras village, who was succumbed to injuries on September 29, has shocked the nation. The opposition has targeted the Yogi Adityanath government while demanding his resignation over the law and order situation in UP. 

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has cornered Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and has expressed his displeasure over the Hathras rape case. Taking a jibe at the UP CM, Deshmukh said that before making a film city in the state he should clean the city from criminals.  

“A woman was tragically killed in a gang rape in Hathras village of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath control the criminals. Focus on cleaning goons from the city instead of ‘film city’, it will be more useful,” Deshmukh tweeted. 

Earlier, NCP leader and Maharashtra Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad expressed his displeasure over the incident. He highlighting that the caste system is still very much active in society.

“Those who say that the caste system is over are cheating themselves. This cancerous disease is still present in society. The pyre of a Dalit girl in Hathras is living proof of the same,” Awhad said. 

Two weeks ago, a 19-year-old Dalit girl in Hathras village was allegedly raped by four upper-caste men who have been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Her spinal cord was broken and tongue cut off. The victim succumbed to injuries after being admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. 

The family of the victim has alleged that the UP Police forcibly and hurriedly cremated the girl at night without their presence. The action taken by the administration has sparked massive outrage across the country.
