Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik has demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and alleged that Delhi violence was “pre-planned”.

While talking to the media, Malik said that the Supreme Court’s remark on the Delhi violence indicate that riots were “pre-planned” and the Police were given instruction for not taking any action during the violence.

“Supreme Court has said that several lives could have been saved. It indicated that the riots were pre-planned. Police were given some kind of order for not acting. Amit Shah must resign. He doesn’t have the moral right to remain in the office,” Malik asserted.

The NCP leader also questioned as to why Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Kapil Mishra and Anurag Thakur were not arrested by Delhi Police. The ruling party is behind the violence and the government has failed to maintain peace in Delhi, Malik alleged.

“A case should be registered against the provocateurs including Kapil Mishra and Anurag Thakur. No one is above the law. They must be arrested,” Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik said while referring to the Delhi High Court order on the issue.

Malik stated that those involved in Delhi violence or have any role in the same should be booked. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had directed the police to file an FIR against Kapil Mishra, Anurag Thakur and others for hate speech. However, no FIR has been registered against the BJP leader.

Delhi Police on Thursday booked AAP corporator, Tahir Hussain, under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with the murder of Ankit Sharma. The violence in parts of North East Delhi has claimed 42 lives and several are injured in various hospitals across the city.
