Amid the coronavirus outbreak across the world, all the major countries have blocked their respective borders in order to stop the spreading of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19. Along with others, several Indian citizens are also stuck in many different places and are not able to come back to their country.

Nearly 40 tourists from Maharashtra are stranded in Uzbekistan. After tourists saw no possibility to return home, they had reached out to the Maharashtra Minister Jayant Patil appealing they be rescued from the foreign country.

Maharashtra Water Resource Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, Jayant Patil had assured everyone that all the necessary efforts would be made to bring them home.

On March 10, nearly 40 tourists from Maharashtra went to Tashkent - the capital city of Uzbekistan. They were to return on March 16. However, due to the lack of aviation services, the tourists got stuck in Uzbekistan. In a fearful situation, one of the tourists contacted Jayant Patil and briefed him regarding their situation.

Patil urged the tourists to not panic while assuring them of necessary action to rescue them. Speaking about the same, Patil informed that he was contacted by Abhijeet Chimna and others with an appeal to rescue them from Tashkent.

“I will try my best to bring them back to Maharashtra. I will talk to NCP chief Sharad Pawar regarding this and will urge him to talk to the Union Ministry of External Affairs,” said Jayant Patil.

As the coronavirus pandemic started spreading in India, the central government temporarily suspended almost all visas and closed its borders. India has recorded 147 positive cases of the coronavirus or COVID-19 while Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 41 active cases and one casualty.
