On the first death anniversary of late Lata Mangeshkar, the Mangeshkar family has demanded that the Coastal Road which is being built in Mumbai be named after playback singer Lata Mangeshkar. Coastal Road is one of the important projects of Mumbai. Now there is a demand that this road should be named after Lata didi.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is working on several projects to connect Mumbai to Kalyan, Bhiwandi as well as Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar, Navi Mumbai and Thane. Of these, the Coastal Road is the most prominent one. The BMC has recently announced the extension of this Coastal Road from Versova to Dahisar, starting from Peddar Road.
About INR 9000 crore rupees will be spent for this. The work on Versova-Dahisar Coastal Road will start from 2023-24. The distance by road is about 22 km which takes about an hour to cover. With the construction of the Coastal Road, this distance can be covered within a few minutes.
