Budget copy burnt, 19 Congress, NCP MLAs suspended

19 MLAs have been suspended for burning a copy of the state budget outside the Vidhan Bhavan.

Among the suspended MLAs are Nationalist Congress Party’s Jitendra Awhad, Bhaskar Jadhav, Abdul Sattar and others have been suspended until 31 March.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Girish Bapat had proposed to suspend 19 MLAs, which was approved. Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar presented the budget on 18 March. While Mungantiwar was presenting the budget, Opposition leaders protested, and shouted anti-government slogans to interrupt the session. 

The legislators have been suspended for creating a ruckus, displaying banners, shouting slogans and disregarding the speaker’s directions. 

The 19 suspended MLAs are: 

Congress (9): Amar Kale, Vijay Waddetiwar, Harshwardhan Sakpal, Abdul Sattar, DP Sawant, Sangram Thopte, Amit Zanak, Kunal Patil and Jaikumar Gore.

NCP (10): Bhaskar Jadhav, Jitendra Awhad, Madhusudan Kendre, Sangram Jagtap, Avdhut Tatkare, Deepak Chavan, Dattatray Bharne, Narhari Jirval, Vaibhav Pichad and Rahul Jagtap.
