"People in Gujarat don't want the bullet train. So, why does PM Modi intend for the same?" asked Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that PM’s eyes are already on Mumbai. Thus, the bullet train proposal has been approved.

Talking about the Sanyukt Maharashtra Movement, the MNS chief said that during the movement, Mumbai became part of Maharashtra implying that the same has always bothered Gujarat and they want to snatch Mumbai away. While criticising Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Thackeray said that they want to eliminate Marathi people from Mumbai and connect Mumbai with Gujarat through bullet train.

Speaking at a meeting organised at Bandra East Government colony to stand against government’s move to remove them, the MNS chief assured the residents that they will not be removed from their homes. “if the government has the courage, they should try and remove you (residents) from here,” Thackeray challenged.

Earlier on Friday, the residents of this government colony met Raj Thackeray and expressed their dissatisfaction with the government as it is trying to remove them.

Thackeray narrated that his own childhood was spent in this part of Mumbai, adding that he is not here for politics but to defend the right of Marathi people in the city. He said that for the outsiders to live here, the residents are being forced to evacuate.
