Give reservation based on economic status and not caste: Raj Thackeray
SHARES

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray wants the union government to give reservation on the basis of economic strata and not on caste. He made the statement in Pune at a press meet. He clarified that caste-based reservation brings in hate and differences in the society, hence, it should be based on economic strata.

Here are the issues raised by Raj Thackeray

Why do we need a reservation?
The real question is why and for what purpose we are demanding reservation when politicians are busy playing their dirty politics. Also, in near future, jobs will be available in the private sector and that too on a large scale. Then, why do we need government jobs?

Reservation for Marathi manus
Outsiders are taking up jobs in the private sector, because of this, our Marathi manus is jobless. I believe that government and private sector should reserve 80 per cent to 90 per cent jobs for local residents. The same should be done in government-run schools. If this happens, then there will be no need for reservation.

Prime Minister should represent the country
Whichever politician visits India, our Prime Minister takes them to Ahmedabad. Also, when our PM went to USA, he was greeted by "Kem Che". I did not like it. If tomorrow, Marathi speaking PM is greeted with "Ram Ram", I would not like it either. PM represents the country and not one state.

Don't force anyone to follow one's religion
I feel everyone should follow their own religion and do whatever is needed in their house. One should not force others or teach others to follow someone else's religion.
