On Wednesday, May 4, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray took a press conference amid the loudspeaker ultimatum given by him. Herein, he commented that the issue is not only about mosques, but even temples wherein illegal loudspeakers are running.

He reaffirmed his stance that the loudspeaker issue brought about by him is not a religious issue but instead a social problem. The MNS Chief went on to exclaim that his party wants peace in Maharashtra.

Thackeray then questioned the police regarding the action they have taken on the 135 mosques which allegedly violated the Supreme Court (SC) guidelines on Wednesday. He believes that the police are only taking action against their workers.

He added that his point is that all illegal loudspeakers should be removed from mosques. The politician then declared that their agitation will continue till illegal loudspeakers are removed from mosques.

Thackeray proclaimed that his party will continue playing the Hanuman Chalisa outside mosques during azan till all illegal loudspeakers are removed. He concluded his press meeting by highlighting that he wishes to see what the SC will do if the Maharashtra government is not following its order.

Earlier, on Tuesday, May 3, Thackeray, in an open letter appealed people to play Hanuman Chalisa on loudspeakers in the areas where azaan is heard blaring on loudspeakers from May 4. Amid this appeal, the Mumbai Police have taken measures to ensure law and order.

A case has also been registered against Thackeray and the organizers of the Aurangabad rally for the violation of terms and conditions set out by the police.
