A statewide membership registration campaign of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is set to be launched following the party’s completion of 20 years since its formation. The campaign is scheduled to begin on March 10, a day after the organisation marks its anniversary on March 9, 2026. The announcement has been communicated by party chief Raj Thackeray through a message shared with party workers on the social media platform X.

It has been stated by Thackeray that a visit will be made to Raigad Fort on the morning of March 9 in order to pay tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. From the historic site, the membership campaign is expected to be symbolically initiated. Raigad Fort has long been regarded as an important landmark in Maharashtra’s history, as it once served as the capital of the Maratha Empire and was the location where the coronation of Shivaji Maharaj was held. By selecting this location for the symbolic launch, historical and cultural significance has been associated with the beginning of the membership initiative.

Through the campaign, a wider outreach is intended to be achieved beyond the party’s existing workers. It has been conveyed that citizens across Maharashtra who wish to contribute to the development and rebuilding of the state will be encouraged to become members of the organisation. Party workers have been asked to interact with people from different sections of society, including those who may be dissatisfied with the current situation, and to motivate them to join the movement.

The registration process for new members is planned to be carried out through both digital and physical modes. Membership stalls are expected to be organised at party branches across the state. In addition, workers have been instructed to take the campaign directly to the public by setting up registration counters in busy locations such as markets, schools, temples, colleges, playgrounds and gardens. Through these efforts, wider participation from citizens is hoped to be achieved.

Support for the drive has also been sought from party leaders and office-bearers at different organisational levels. City presidents, deputy presidents, vice presidents and general secretaries have been directed to assist workers conducting the campaign so that the process can be carried out effectively across Maharashtra.

The initiative has not been described merely as an attempt to increase membership numbers. Instead, it has been presented as a reflection of the willingness of Marathi people to participate actively in shaping the future of the state. According to Thackeray, the campaign is expected to strengthen the connection between the party and the people of Maharashtra.

During the campaign period, another significant gathering has been planned. Party workers from different regions of the state have been invited to assemble at Shiv Tirth on March 19 on the occasion of Gudhi Padwa. The gathering is expected to provide an opportunity for Raj Thackeray to meet supporters representing various parts of Maharashtra as the membership drive progresses across the state.
