Mumbai rains have affected the city and nearby areas, and over the last few weeks, roads in many areas like Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli and other parts have been blocked.

Observing this, MLA from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Raju Patil, has finally challenged Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to visit the areas and take a tour of the roads, especially in Dombivli.

Mocking the CM, he said that repair work was conducted in Thane and the potholes were filled as the CM was planning a visit. Taking a similar approach, CM should visit Kalyan-Shil road. This would at least help the locality as potholes will be filled due to the visit. Adding more, he said, “if you want, I myself will stand on Shilphata to welcome you.”

The Kalyan-Shil road is one of the important roads which connects the district to Mumbai. Many travel to-and-from these areas for work, and this lead to traffic congestion. Poor roads and repair work often adds to the congestion, making it difficult for thousands of vehicles to pass through this route every day.

This route is mainly used by the residents of Thane, Dombivali and Kalyan. Furthermore, in the current scenario, the number of vehicles travelling on the Kalyan-Shil route has increased as the local train services are shut due to the lockdown amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

Raju Patil had earlier asked the government to allow Mumbai local trains to function, for the same reason, as officials in this MMR locality are facing several obstacles to reach their workplace.

Besides this, it is reported that the respective Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has also not taken necessary measures to repair the poor condition of the roads, despite several requests.
