India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a statement targetting unemployed youth where he said that instead of sitting idle at home, unemployed youngsters should go out and fry "Pakoras (Pakoda)."

This statement did not go well with opposition leaders who decided to protest in a unique way. Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam had planned to fry pakoras in front of Mantralaya but his car was stopped at Girgaum Chowpatty. Police security was also beefed to avoid any untoward incident.

Nirupam had appealed to unemployed youngsters to set up stalls outside Mantralaya. It is being said that many of the unemployed youths were going to be present with copies of degree certificates. In the wake of this protest, Mumbai police had beefed up the security around Mantralaya.

The government got scared of our protest as they stopped my car at Girgaum. Today we were stopped but soon Mumbai Congress will stage a huge protest. If the government is so scared then they should create job opportunities and should not give suggestions of trying pakoras,” Sanjay Nirupam, President, Mumbai Congress.
