Another former corporator of Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray faction, Vilas Chawri, has joined Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's party. Along with Chawari, party workers of koli community from Khar Danda area have joined Shinde's Shiv Sena.

The Shinde group seems to be succeeding in spying on disgruntled former corporators and office bearers from Uddhav Thackeray's group and bringing them to their party. In the last few days, Shinde's Shiv Sena has succeeded in bringing former corporators of the Thackeray group, office bearers and former corporators of Congress and NCP into its party. Just last week Thackeray group deputy leader Meena Kambli gave Thackeray Jai Maharashtra, this week on Monday night former Bandra corporator Vilas Chawri joined the Shinde group. A large number of Koli brothers from Bandra Khar Danda area were present with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during his party entry at Nandanvan residence.

Vilas Chawari belongs to the Koli community and is dominant in the Koli community of Khar Danda. He was the branch head of Khar Danda branch for some years. He was elected as corporator of Shiv Sena twice in 2007 and 2012. Then in 2014 Shiv Sena nominated him to the Legislative Assembly. But he was defeated in the election. He was also the Liaison Head of Raigad District. However, office bearers of the Thackeray group say that they have not been active in the Shiv Sena for the past few years.

At the time of joining the party, Chawari said that for the past several years, he has done all the work for the party responsibly. But in the last few years, the expected help was not getting from the leadership. On the other hand we were impressed by the work done by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He said that he joined Shiv Sena to strengthen the hands of the person who carried forward the ideas of late Balasaheb Thackeray.

We decided to increase the distance between the two pillars while constructing the seashore path so that the Koli community  does not have difficulty in fishing. Also, under the Mumbai Beautification Project, there is an effort to provide a means of livelihood to Koliwadis in Mumbai by well-planned development. Along with this, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde gave an assurance on this occasion that the issues of Gavthan and redevelopment faced by the Koli community in Bandra area will be solved on priority basis through the government. He also said that funds will be provided for speedy development of the area.
