Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday blamed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the centre for the violence in several parts of Delhi.

While addressing the workers at an NCP convention, Sharad Pawar alleged that the BJP was promoting communalism and blamed the statements made by Prime Minister and ministers in his cabinet for the violence in the national capital.

“Delhi is witnessing such a situation because of the statements made by the Prime Minister and his cabinet colleagues. Failure of the Home Minister to handle the law and order situation in Delhi has also resulted in the violence,” NCP chief Sharad Pawar said.

The senior leader further stated that the BJP was promoting “communalism” and it was necessary to draft an action plan to keep away such parties from coming in power.

“Speeches made by the Prime Minister and Home Minister were aimed at creating communal hatred. The BJP was aware that it would not be possible for it to gain control over Delhi. This is why it played the communal card and created communal tensions,” Pawar was quoted in a TOI report.

With the growing tension in Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra over certain issues including the implementation of the CAA and the proposed NPR and NRC, the stability of the three-party alliance (Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena) is in question.

Reacting to this, Pawar said that the Uddhav Thackeray-led government will complete its five-year term and informed that the MVA government was stable.

Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that the CAA was not a problem for the people in Maharashtra while stating that his government will not block the National Population Register (NPR).

However, NCP and Congress have maintained their strong objection to the implementation of the CAA, NRC and NPR. The Congress and NCP are putting pressure on Shiv Sena to bring out a resolution against the CAA and the proposed NRC, NPR.

Despite this, Deputy CM and NCP leader, Ajit Pawar on Sunday stated that Maharashtra assembly is unlikely to pass a resolution against the same.

However, the official stand of the MVA government over the implementation of CAA, NRC and NPR is not yet clear. Earlier, CM Uddhav Thackeray had assured Congress leader Naseem Khan that a decision on passing a resolution against the same will be taken after discussion with members of the MVA.
