Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Avadhut Tatkare on Thursday met Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai amid speculations of him joining Shiv Sena and said that he wants to stay in “mainstream politics". 

After his meeting, it is being said that Tatakare might quit NCP ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections. This can be another shock to Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Avadhut Tatkare is a NCP MLA from Shrivardhan assembly constituency in Raigad district in Maharashtra. The earlier speculations suggest that NCP MP Sunil Tatkare might also join Shiv Sena. However, the rumours came to an end after Sunil Tatkare refuted the same.

Sunil Tatkare is an MP representing Raigad Lok Sabha constituency and is related to Avadhut Tatkare. However, the speculations regarding the NCP MLA standstill as he said that he can’t confirm anything but asserted on staying in mainstream politics. Avadhut Tatkare said that he will make a decision after consulting party workers and close aides.

Earlier on Wednesday, six-time NCP MLA Dilip Sopal joined Shiv Sena in the presence of party chief Uddhav Thackeray. Congress leader Dileep Mane was also inducted in the party ahead of the upcoming polls.
