A cheating case has been registered against senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik’s son, Faraz, in a case related to the submission of fake documents for his wife Hamleen’s visa extension.

The case was registered on Wednesday at the Kurla police station following a complaint by an officer working with the special branch unit of the Mumbai police, officials said.

As per the officials, the forged documents for getting Hamleen’s visa extended – she is a French national – were submitted last year, after March 2022.

Soon after the FIR was registered, BJP worker Mohit Kamboj Bharatiya took to Twitter about the news. “Those who accuse others of cheating, how fake they themselves are,” the party worker tweeted.

Under relevant sections of cheating and forgery, a case was registered, however, no one has been arrested in the case so far, officials added.
