Former Chief Minister Narayan Rane on Tuesday, along with his hundreds of supporters, formally joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the assembly elections in Maharashtra which are scheduled on October 21

Meanwhile, Rane also merged his party Maharashtra Swambhiman Paksha into the BJP. With Rane being a Konkan strongman, the polity of Konkan region will change. 

This happened in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who was campaigning for Nitesh Rane, son of Narayan Rane who is the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections from Kankavali assembly constituency on BJP ticket. 

At the event, Nilesh Rane, elder son of Narayan Rane also joined BJP. CM Fadnavis said that Narayan Rane had a BJP form and is a Rajya Sabha member. He is already a BJP member, said Fadnavis. 

Shiv Sena and BJP are contesting the assembly elections in Maharashtra. Earlier, Shiv Sena had objected to Rane’s entry in the BJP over pas experiences. Rane had left Shiv Sena to join Congress.

While speaking at the event, CM Fadnaivs claimed that Nitesh Rane will win by more than 70 per cent votes and BJP will be benefitted from Narayan Rane’s experience.
