Amid the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have ruled out the possibility of a mid-term poll in the state.

“We are not afraid of elections. We don't need to prepare for the elections as we are not working with an eye on the poll,” said Shinde and asked, ‘’What is the logic of mid-term elections? Why is this confusion being created?’’

"They are making such statements so that their MLAs and people's representatives should not leave. It (Shiv Sena UBT’s) ally (Congress) also is saying that Shiv Sena is not their natural ally. It is being said that 22 MLAs from Congress will go to BJP, and some people will split and join the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena. This is a desperate attempt to create confusion to keep their legislators together," said Shinde while addressing media.

"We have a strong government of 170 MLAs. They (Shiv Sena UBT) know that the government will work with full strength for two and a half years and fulfil people's expectations. So they are scared and make such statements. After two and a half years, people will elect only those who will work. We will win more than 200 seats," noted Shinde.

On the other hand, deputy CM Fadnavis claimed it was a desperate attempt to keep its flock together. Calling it an Opposition Jodo Yatra, he exclaimed that it would have no effect on national and state politics. It’s Modi Hatao Yatra. Whoever in the opposition comes together, will not be able to remove Modi, because he (the PM) has a place in the people’s hearts.

This development came after the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Aaditya Thackeray on November 7 took a veiled dig at the Eknath Shinde-led government in Maharashtra claiming that it will collapse in the coming months.

“This government of traitors will surely collapse in coming months. Mid-term polls are around the corner,” Aaditya said, asking workers to gear up to face early elections.

In a scathing attack at Shinde, Aaditya reiterated that one cannot identify who is the Chief Minister between Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis, who belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party.

Notably, his father and former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had last week spoken about the possibility of mid-term elections in Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, addressing a rally in Balapur in Akola district, the former minister said that the Shinde-led dispensation over four major projects picking other States over Maharashtra and claimed the State has lost potential employment for 2.5 lakh people.
