On Thursday, May 5, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar stated that nobody had the right to give ultimatums since the state is governed by laws, cited reports. This comment by Pawar comes in the aftermath of MNS Chief Raj Thackeray seeking action against those mosques that use loudspeakers.

While interacting with the media, Pawar elaborated on how no one has the right to give ultimatums. He added that in the case someone wishes to they should do so at their homes. The leader remarked that Maharashtra will be administered by laws and that court orders have to be abided by all.

The state deputy chief minister then voiced how any attempts to curate unrest or communal tensions will be firmly dealt with. He elucidated that the laws are the same and apply to all, accounts mentioned.

Based on narratives, Pawar uttered that while the court directives apply to all, special permissions are given on certain days to extend the deadline. At the same time, however, people should not take the laws into their own hands, he exclaimed.

Earlier on Wednesday, May 4, Thackeray in a press conference continued to hold that his stance on loudspeakers was not a religious one, but in fact, is a social issue. He declared that the protest was not a one-day affair but will continue until all the illegal loudspeakers are removed from mosques.
