On Tuesday, July 26, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that the purchase order of medicines, consumables, surgical equipment, chemicals and materials from the state medical education and public health departments have not been stayed by the newly-appointed government, reports stated.

According to accounts, the state government has stayed schemes of the District Planning Development Council and the tribal sub-plan in the tribal welfare department after April 1. Thus, while the projects have been approved, the tenders are not to be issued till further orders and the appointment of guardian ministers of the respective districts.

Shinde was quoted in narratives elaborating on how the health services are important and the state's medical education and public health departments see to it that these services are offered to the citizens. He added that the COVID-19 pandemic had increased the pressure on health services in addition to the chance of the spread of contagious diseases during monsoon.

The CM elucidated that both departments have been omitted from the list of orders stayed by the government to ensure that all hospitals operate in complete force during monsoon. On the other hand, on Tuesday in a meeting with the secretaries of all state government departments, Shinde asked that they come up with a 100-day program for his government.

Recently, the newly-formed Maharashtra government ordered a review of all the development works and projects that were sanctioned by former minister and Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray.
