From Maharashtra too it is expected that 1,400 people took part in this event, which was held in Delhi between March 13 to 15. On Thursday, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said that around 1,400 people from Maharashtra attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin. He further elaborated, "Out of which, around 1300 have been traced till now and are being quarantined in Maharashtra. Their samples will be collected for COVID-19 testing".

Yesterday, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh also made an appeal to the people who had attended the Markaz to reach out to the concerned authorities so that they could be taken for further tests.

As a part of the efforts to find these people and, the state on Wednesday had announced that 60 people from Pune who had attended this Markaz have already been quarantined. This information was shared by Pune District Collector, Naval Kishore Ram who said that till none of these people have symptoms but their samples are being sent for testing and tracing of others who may have attended the Markaz and who have come in contact with these 60 is going on.

In addition to this, about 25 people from Mumbra in Thane district were also identified as the people who had attended the Markaz. These people have been identified from two madrasas in Mumbra.

On Tuesday, the state was able to trace Five people in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district, including two foreigners who had attended the Markaz in Nizamuddin, all of them had tested positive for COVID-19 and are getting the required treatment.

The details regarding other people that the state has managed to identify is sketchy at the moment.

Another important announcement that Rajesh Tope made on Thursday shared that the centre has approved to conduct rapid and mass-scale testing for the coronavirus or COVID-19 which has claimed 16 lives in the state.

While talking to the reporters, Rajesh Tope stated that the state government will use blood samples instead of swabs to rapidly test those suspected to have contracted the coronavirus or COVID-19. This will ascertain “in five minutes” whether the person has developed antibodies for the disease or not, Tope added.

Rajesh Tope’s announcement that Maharashtra will begin rapid testing for the coronavirus comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a video conference with all the chief ministers to discuss to tackle the spread of the COVID-19. Tope was also a part of the interaction along with state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
