On Monday, Palghar witnessed 46.5 per cent voting in the bypoll elections held for the Lok Sabha seat. Post voting, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena and BVA (Bahujan Vikas Aghadi), each party claimed that victory was theirs in Palghar.

However, during Palghar byelection for the Lok Sabha seat, many EVM machines experienced a technical problem which led to a delay in the voting. However, post voting, a photo of Hitendra Thakur (chief of Bahujan Vikas Aghadi), is making rounds as he is seen to be standing with his wife Praveena Thakur while casting a vote.

As per the Election Commission guidelines, only one voter is allowed to cast vote. He/she cannot take anyone’s company while doing so. Also, if the voter witnesses any problem in the EVM machine, he has to call the officers who are appointed by the EC.

This photo has become viral and many political parties are taking a dig at Thakur for accompanying his wife while casting a vote.
