The much-anticipated Ganeshotsav was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm this year, across Mumbai, and the citizens welcomed their beloved Bappa with wide arms. The nine-day festival was well organised in the city, were the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Mumbai Police made necessary arrangements keeping the excitement in mind.

As per reports, Over 48,000 idols immersed in Mumbai on 6th day of visarjan, and just like every year, the visarjan continued till the last day of Ganeshotsav. Atleast, 3-4 Artificial Lakes In Each Ward For Visarjan were planned by the local corporation and officials were considering increasing the number of artificial lakes to 100.

Devotees immersed the idols of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Gauri in the sea at various beaches, ponds and artificial lakes made for the purpose. Besides this, visarjan activities were also performed across beaches in Mumbai. 

Post the ninth day of visarjan, Mumbaikars organised a cleanthon at Juhu beach where thousands of idols were immersed. Observing the efforts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to share his words of appreciation. Dr Jitendra Singh, on Twitter, said, "A cleanathon was organised at Juhu Beach in #Mumbai saw participation in large numbers by Civil Society. Heartening to see youngsters taking the lead in longest coast cleanup campaign #SwachhSagarSurakshitSagar."

Sharing a tweet by Dr Jitendra Singh on cleanathon organised at Juhu beach in Mumbai, PM Modi lauded the cause and appreciated the people involved in the cleanathon. he said that it is important we focus on keeping our coasts clean.

Besides this, Mumbai Police also ramped up the security for the days of visarjan. It was after a gap of two years, that the Mumbai Police  deployed adequate personnel for the idol immersion, on the occasion of Ananth Chaturdashi.
