Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Chandrakant Patil taunted Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar for admitting that the Maharashtra government was like a “circus”.

While talking to reporters in Kolhapur, Patil felt vindicated over Pawar’s sarcastic remarks against Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Replying to Singh’s remarks against the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, the NCP said that the circus has all the animals but it “needs a joker”.

Earlier, while addressing the BJP workers at ‘Jan Samvad’ rally, Rajnath Singh had criticised the MVA government over its handling of COVID-19 crisis in Maharashtra saying that the three-party alliance seems like there is a circus instead of the government.

The Union Minister went on to say that the Maharashtra government doesn’t have any vision for development and it was struggling despite being under the leadership of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Replying to this, Pawar said, “Yes, we have a circus and animals also but we need a joker to supervise them.”

Meanwhile, Patil jumped in to defend Singh and said that Pawar has accepted that the three-party alliance in Maharashtra was like a “circus” with “animals” in it. However, the BJP leader was quick to say that he admires Pawar and has taken his advice on several issues earlier.

Earlier, Patil had criticised the NCP supremo for his two-day visit to Konkan region to take stock of the damage caused by Cyclone Nisarga. Pawar woke up after the BJP sent aid to areas affected by the cyclone in Konkan region, the BJP leader said.

Replying to this, Sharad Pawar mocked the BJP leaders and said that they have also done surveys and seems like they have planted coconut trees in the area. “I congratulate them,” he said.
