Mumbai – The officers posted on the BMC election duty staged a stir by wearing black ribbons to protest against threats to the life of the Presiding Officer for ward nos. 182 to 192. According to information, Maya Patole is being appointed as the Presiding Officer for the above-mentioned wards. She had rejected the form of a candidate of the MIM. An unidentified person sent a message to Padole on her mobile phone threatening to kill her. A case in this regard has been registered in Dadar police station. Taking this seriously, the officers on election duty staged the protest on Monday and worked by wearing black ribbons.
As per reports, Pushpa Balraj, the MIM candidate from ward no. 188, filed her nomination papers on February 3 and left the office. While scrutinising the papers, it would that Balraj had not attached a receipt of deposit amount and hence her form was rejected.
