Mumbai: Raja Thakur's wife files complaint against Sanjay Raut for derogatory remark

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut made allegations against Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde of hiring a goon Raja Thakur to carry out an attack on him. He wrote a letter as well to Maharashtra’s Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis about the same. 


Raja Thakur's wife files complaints
Now, Raja Thakur’s wife Pooja Thakur who is an advocate by profession has filed a complaint against Raut for making derogatory remarks against her husband.

Pooja said that she has filed a police complaint with Kapurbavdi police against a derogatory remark used on her husband.  "Who gave him [Raut] the right to call my husband a goon," she questioned in a media statement.

She informed the media that the case has been filed under Indian Penal Code Section 211 (False charge of offence made with intent to hurt).


Who is Raja Thakur?

  • According to Live Hindustan, several murder charges have been filed against Ravichand Thakur alias Raja Thakur and his gang. In Thane, Kalwa, and Mumbra area, he holds a lot of influence.

  • In 2011, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the killing of another gangster Deepak Patil. Later he was released on bail in April, 2019.

  • In October 2019, Thakur was caught again for absconding without appearing before police. Later, he was released on bail and was placed in the Eknath group, according to Marathi newspaper Loksatta.

Security beefed up for Sanjay Raut
Following the complaint by Sanjay Raut, Thane police recorded his statement on Wednesday. Along with this, his security has been increased as well. 


CM to inquire the threat call issue 
Meanwhile, while speaking to the media, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde said that he will be investigating the threat call made to Sanjay Raut. He will also investigate if this is a stunt, and the state police will take care of security, added Shinde.
