According to the latest reports, on Monday, May 2, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil remarked that MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s speech in Aurangabad, wherein he reiterated his deadline for removal of loudspeakers from mosques, was to curate a divide in society.
Based on accounts, Patil hinted at action against Thackeray. It has been reported that Thackeray's address focused on attacking Sharad Pawar, NCP Chief. The NCP is part of the ruling coalition in Maharashtra.
Thackeray had reportedly accused Pawar of indulging in caste politics in the state and mentioned he was allergic to the word "Hindu".
Patil was quoted in narratives elaborating on how the MNS Chief's speech looked to curate divide and hatred in society. He added that the police will listen to his speech and undertake a decision if it was objectionable.
In addition to this, the Aurangabad police commissioner is slated to assess the conditions put by the police while giving Thackeray permission for his rally which were supposedly violated, uttered Patil, reports cited.
Moreover, according to Patil, the Aurangabad police chief will seek legal opinion and send a report to his seniors, accounts mentioned. The home minister elucidated on how a call will be taken accordingly.
Patil is also expected to interact with top officials following which the government will make a decision. In the meantime, he was urged all to remain calm.
