Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has sought a ministerial post for the Republican Party of India (Athawale) for the next cabinet expansion in Maharashtra. Athawale gave this information while addressing RPI(A) workers and office-bearers at Vasai in Mumbai on Wednesday night.
Athawale said that he has already raised his demand for the ministerial post at the appropriate forum. Athawale said that he would try to get tickets for RPI(A) in at least two to three Lok Sabha seats and 10 to 15 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra next year. Maharashtra has a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats and 288 Vidhan Sabha seats. Athawale said the RPI(A) will fight all the upcoming municipal and district council elections in Maharashtra in alliance with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led BJP and Shiv Sena.

Interestingly, a full-page ad was published in all major newspapers of the state, citing a survey that claimed Chief Minister Shinde was ahead of Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis in popularity. However, there was no picture of Fadnavis or Shiv Sena founder late Balasaheb Thackeray.
Bonde said, 'No matter how much a frog swells, it cannot become an elephant. His (Shinde) advisers are probably giving him wrong advice. Uddhav Thackeray thought Mumbai was the whole of Maharashtra. Now Shinde thinks that Thane means the entire Maharashtra”. On this, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad said, 'The way Eknath Shinde is working and comparing him to a frog or he is limited to Thane only. BJP flourished in Maharashtra with whose help? You went ahead with the help of Balasaheb Thackeray. What is your position in Maharashtra?”
