Two months after the Maha Vikas Aghadi government was formed in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is planning to appoint Ravindra Waikar as chief coordinator in the CM's office. The move taken by Shiv Sena is said to be a strategic one by the party to ensure stronger coordination with the government. Further, it is also said that he may also get become a cabinet minister.

Since Uddhav Thackeray has become the CM, all the three parties have set expectations from him, and keeping this in mind, his office has ensured that they too adopt the model former CM Devendra Fadnavis had implemented. With Waikar becoming  the Chief Coordinator, party leaders and other members from different departments can approach him on various occasions for important work. This way he can be the bridge between Sena leaders, workers and the CM.

It is also said that CM Thackeray feels overburdened with the current work load as this is the first time for him in the position of a CM. Hence, having a support would  ease this pressure as he would be able to get the feedback and suggestions received by ministers and members of the party. Moveover, this model is also said to help in improving the process of clearing pending files at his level, thereby push the development in an effectively manner.

Waikar has been close to Thackeray for many years now and it was expected that he would become a minister in the government, however, this was not the case in reality. He failed to become a part of the council of ministers back then.
