Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has launched a sharp attack on Ravindra Chavan following the arrest of several accused in a gold smuggling case linked to Mumbai airport.

Sharing photographs allegedly showing the arrested accused with Chavan, Raut raised questions about the BJP leader's association with them. He claimed that Chavan's conduct and political style had never been in line with Maharashtra's social and political culture.

Raut alleged that Chavan had used excessive money power in elections across the Konkan region and had similarly gained control over a district cooperative bank. Questioning the source of Chavan's financial resources, Raut said many people had long wondered where the money came from and that recent developments had provided an answer.

The Rajya Sabha MP further alleged that Chavan had, at one point, entered labour union activities at Mumbai airport, broken rival unions, and established influence over airport operations. He claimed that groups of alleged criminals were nurtured during this period and that some of those individuals have now been arrested in connection with the gold smuggling case.

Calling the matter serious, Raut demanded a deeper investigation, alleging that such a probe could reveal how the BJP generates funds. Referring to photographs of the accused with the BJP state chief, he accused the party of damaging Maharashtra's political environment.

Raut also urged Devendra Fadnavis to take the matter seriously and ensure a thorough investigation into the allegations.
