In its editorial published in ‘Saamana’, Shiv Sena has called for the “sons of the soil” to unite amid the ongoing political scenario in Maharashtra. The editorial has attacked Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut for comparing Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).

Moreover, Shiv Sena has taken a dig at Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray through the editorial. “Mumbai’s subjugation, for what? Mumbai belongs to Maharashtra,” it said. Shiv Sena has alleged a ‘conspiracy’ by outsiders to take over Mumbai. Without naming Raj Thackeray, it said that the ‘insiders’ are helping them.

“Mumbai has been called as Pakistan and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was referred to as ‘Babur’. This comes after the civic body took action on the illegal construction at an actress’ office who insulted Mumbai. After all this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra stand behind those who insult Mumbai. It is unfortunate.

Thackeray is a ‘brand’ in Maharashtra which reflects self-respect. The second important ‘brand’ in Maharashtra goes by ‘Pawar’. The conspiracy to destroy these brands and take over Mumbai has unfolded yet again. Raj Thackeray is also a component of the same ‘brand’ today and he will also have to bear the burnt,” Sena said attacking Raj Thackeray.

The editorial further read that the MNS chief may have differences with Shiv Sena but the ‘Thackeray’ brand should remain. “If the Thackeray brand falls, Mumbai will begin to decline as well,” it added.

In a brutal attack against Kangana, the editorial (without naming her) said that a ‘naughty’ actress speaks disrespectfully to the Chief Minister while sitting in Mumbai. “What kind of one-sided freedom is it when she gives a challenge and there’s no response from people of Maharashtra?”

In an attempt to fuel the sentiments of regionalism, Shiv Sena said that the “sons of the soil” have self-respect because ‘Thackeray’ has command over Maharashtra and those who exploit Mumbai or value it to earn money should understand this.

“The fate of Maharashtra and its people revolves around Mumbai. Mumbai can belong to the country or the world, but Maharashtra has the first right over it. Whenever Mumbai has been subjugated, Maharashtra has retaliated,” it read.
