A day after Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray extended support to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday also backed Thackeray who is facing probe in connection with an IL&FS related case.

However, following former Union Minister P Chidambaram’s episode with Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday, Raut stated that labelling the actions of investigation agencies as “political vendetta” will demoralise them.

While talking to the reporters, Raut further informed that Uddhav Thackeray is quite sensitive when it comes to family ties as these are blood relations.

We can have political differences in politics, however, one has to fulfil his duties as the head of the family. The Shiv Sena chief supports Raj Thackeray and is looking into the developments closely,” said Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut.

Raut's support to Raj Thackeray comes after Uddhav Thackeray indirectly gave a ‘clean chit’ to the MNS chief saying that nothing concrete will come out of the ongoing ED probe.

Raj Thackeray is currently being inquired by ED at the investigation agency's office in Mumbai. The MNS chief entered the ED's office around 11:30 in the morning and was accompanied by his family members including his wife and son Amit Thackeray.

The ED is investigating the loan and equity investment worth ₹860 crore made by Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) in Kohinoor CTNL which is founded by Unmesh Joshi.
