The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are scheduled for the near future and while the preparations have begun, political rivalries and counter-claims have also started. The year, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning to contest the municipal elections against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Keeping this in mind, Shiv Sena leader MP Sanjay Raut said that the municipal corporation will remain under the control of Shiv Sena no matter what.

In a recently held media interaction, Sanjay Raut, who is on a tour in Nashik,  claimed that along with Mumbai, Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will also be under the control of Shiv Sena.

In the recently held elections for the teachers and graduates of the Legislative Council,  three parties of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government - Shiv Sena, Congress and the NCP - came together and won against the BJP. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Devendra Fadnavis also admitted that their strategy in this election went wrong. Though there will be a BJP-Shiv Sena-led struggle in the BMC elections, it is being said that Shiv Sena can get the support of Congress and NCP.

However, it is questioned that if the MVA parties fight the elections together, will BJP join hands with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena for the BMC elections?

Addressing all these queries, Sanjay Raut said that discussions are underway to fight the local body elections in the state together through the Maha Vikas Aghadi. If we come together in important municipalities, the results are more likely to be in our favour. However, the final decision regarding this will be made in the near future. At present, Shiv Sena is the number one party in BMC and number two in Nashik. Therefore, even after the next elections, we would ensure that these municipal corporations remain under the control of Shiv Sena.

On being asked about the BJP-MNS alliance, Sanjay Raut said, 'They got Owaisi in Hyderabad.' But no matter who forms an alliance with them, BMC will remain with Shiv Sena and will be dominant in Nashik too.
