Farmers have called for a nationwide strike to protest against the three new farm laws by the Central government. Today, December 8, on the thirteenth day of the farmers' protest, Bharat Bandh is being observed as agitated farmers demand the repeal of the farm laws.

The 'Bharat Bandh' agitation against the Modi government's agrarian laws is getting a mixed response in Mumbai. Many shop owners in Mumbai have supported the agitation by keeping their shops closed. Several shopkeepers in Dadar have kept their shops closed since Tuesday morning to show solidarity to the demands of the farmers. Even though this move will impact their business, they have decided to support the bandh.

While the shops are closed, it is business as usual for vegetable and flower vendors in the Dadar area. It is observed that in Dadar's flower market, the roadside market continues to be busy and people seem to be unaffected by the Bharat Bandh. In addition to this, public transport is also not disputed.

The political parties Congress and NCP, who came out in support of the farmers earlier have planned some demonstrations to protest against the farm bills in specific areas of the city.

According to the information received, milk tankers will not arrive in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon, December 8. Milk carts had reached the premises of Kurla Milk Dairy in Mumbai. Later, it was clarified that milk will not be sent in the city by the milk distribution team in the afternoon. Therefore, the officials of Rajaram Bapu Patil Sahakari Dudh Limited have appealed to Mumbaikars to buy milk now. As a result, ordinary consumers are seen rushing to dairies and shops to buy milk.

The APMC market has joined the Bharat Bandh called by the farmers to support them. Hence, the market in Navi Mumbai has been kept tight. All the five markets in APMC Mumbai are shut today.

Meanwhile, the Bandh did not get much response during the morning session in Mumbai. As, in the morning, which is considered to be peak hours for travelling, the city witnessed regular traffic on the roads.

Best buses, taxis and rickshaws are operational. The BEST administration had earlier made it clear that we would not participate in the 'Bharat Bandh' movement. On the other hand, the Mumbai-based taxi association had also decided to resume its service.
