Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Industries Minister Subhash Desai’s pet project Magnetic Maharashtra is to be held from February 18 to February 20 in Mumbai. The contract for organising the event has been handed over to Wizcraft International despite BMC and Mumbai Police filing an FIR against the event management company. Two years ago, on February 14, 2016, a massive fire broke out during the 'Make In India' cultural programme held at Girgaum Chowpatty. Still, Wizcraft bagged the contract for Magnetic Maharashtra from CII.

It is also being told that the contract for both Make in India programme and Magnetic Maharashtra was handed over to CII without tendering. According to the industries ministry, there was not enough time to hold a tendering process and they believe that CII is a well-known organisation with integrity.

After the ill-fated incident of February 14, fire department conducted an inquiry which stated that Wizcraft had brought LPG cylinders to Girgaum Chowpatty without permission. The DB Marg police registered an FIR against Wizcraft under section 366 (an act endangering life or personal safety of others) and Section 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) of the IPC.

Wizcraft refuses charges

Wizcraft International founder director Sabbas Joseph clarified that the fire that took place two years back was due to short circuit rejecting all the allegations. He added that Wizcraft was the lowest bidder for Magnetic Maharashtra and so they bagged the contract.
