The Supreme Court (SC) in its hearing today, July 20, directed Election Commission (EC) and all concerned state authorities of Maharashtra to ensure the election process with respect to local bodies is immediately commenced & taken forward based on direction in order of May 4.

SC directs Maharashtra State election commission to notify the election within 2 weeks.

Moreover, the apex court has cleared way for OBC reservation in Maharashtra’s local body election. Local body election must proceed according to the Banthia commission report and the state election commission must notify the election within two weeks, says SC.

After the judgement passed by the SC, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis in a press conference said that BJP has kept their promise and it is the victory of OBC Community of the state.
