The politics of demonetisation

SHARE

Mumbai – The ‘Ab Ki Baar, Modi Sarkar’ slogan won the BJP the last Lok Sabha as well as Maharashtra Assembly elections. The prime minister on Tuesday night, unleashed a surgical strike of another kind by demonetising currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. While the decision took the citizens off guard, those in power are praising the move and the opposition has raised question marks on it. State finance minister Nitin Mungantiwar, state women and child welfare minister Pankaja Munde, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi, Congress leader Ratnakar Mahajan have offered their takes on this development.
