On Monday, January 25, Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghstana (SSS) President Raju Shetti took out a huge tractor-trolley rally from neighbouring Sangli to Kolhapur, to register their protest against three recently enacted farm laws and extend their support to the farmers agitating at the peripheries of the national capital.

Raju Shetti along with SSS workers gathered at Krantisinh Nana Patil Chowk in Vishrambag area of Sangli city on Monday morning with their tractor-trollies.

Shetty garlanded a statue of late Krantiveer Nana Patil and green signaled to rally, which passed through Sangli-Kolhapur highway by Udgaon-Jaysingpur-Hatkanangale and reached Kolhapur city.

"We have been consistently opposing these three agricultural laws since last June, however, we are not expecting anyone's support," said Raju Shetty.

Shetti also said that he was upset that the opposition parties were not participating in the agitation with full force. According to the Swaminathan Commission, farmers are demanding guaranteed prices and FRP for sugarcane. But, the Central government is not paying attention to this and has enacted laws that no one has demanded. Raju Shetti alleged that the laws were made only for corporate entrepreneurs, like Adani-Ambani.

Moreover, tight security has been deployed in Mumbai for the Kisan Morcha which was held in Mumbai on the occasion of Republic Day. Police are also keeping an eye on the front with the help of drones along with additional paramilitaries of 100 officers. Also, nine SRPF units have been deployed.
