After Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anant Kumar Hegde claimed that Devendra Fadnavis was sworn-in as Maharashtra Chief Minister to save funds worth ₹40,000 crores from being misused, Shiv Sena’s firebrand leader Sanjay Raut said that this is “treachery” with Maharashtra.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut took to Twitter and said that Hegde’s remarks of Fadnavis returning funds worth ₹40,000 crores are a betrayal with Maharashtra.

BJP MP Anant Kumar Hegde says Devendra Fadnavis as CM for 80 hours, moved Maharashtra’s ₹40,000 to centre? This is treachery with Maharashtra,” Raut tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Nawab Malik also took a dig at the BJP and said that it was not possible to transfer such a huge amount of funds to centre and the same is “being spread to hide BJP’s defeat in Maharashtra”.

However, Malik asserted that if it has been done then Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have to resign. “If this has happened, it is a gross injustice to Maharashtra,” said Malik.

While addressing a rally in Yallapor of Uttara Kannada constituency, Hedge said that the BJP had “staged a drama” to save funds from the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi and it took Fadnavis only “15 hours” to make sure that the money was returned to the centre.

Hegde sparked outrage stating that the swearing-in of Devendra Fadnavis as CM for such short period was “drama” to protect funds for development work worth ₹40,000 crores from being misused by Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi.
