After Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman cited millennials' preference for Ola and Uber, a key factor for the economic slowdown of the automobile industry, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has made fresh comments about the cab aggregators. Thackeray felt that due to Ola and Uber, the services of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) had been affected.

Speaking at the inauguration of the BEST mini AC bus ceremony, the Shiv Sena chief pointed out that Ola and Uber had become a formidable competitor for rickshaws, taxis and public transport services. He added that since the cab aggregators gave priority to the consumers' comfort which led to the people choosing cabs over other transport options.

While Thackeray agreed that the bus company's business had been affected due to Ola and Uber, he also added that it was necessary for them to take necessary measures to stay ahead of competition.

He admitted that the country is facing economic slowdown but assured that the economy will re-emerge strongly. Son of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray also assured the employees that BEST would not be affected due to the current economic slowdown.
