Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narayan Rane recently attacked Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray alleging that he has lost control over the administration which has led to the coronavirus situation getting out of control.

While talking to reporters, Rane went on to say that Thackeray has stopped stepping out of his house - ‘Matoshree’ and wasn’t aware of the ground realities amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“Thackeray is not aware of the ground reality because he was stopped stepping out of his house. This has impacted the employees and the administration. It was certain since the head of the state has stopped coming to Mantralaya (secretariat),” Rane alleged on Thursday.

The BJP leader further said that the Chief Minister should be able to motivate and lift the morale of the people but Thackeray has confined himself to video conferences.

“…meanwhile, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Devendra Fadnavis has been visiting districts across the state to take stock of the COVID-19 situation,” Rane, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister said.

Earlier, Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil had also taken a dig at the Chief Minister saying that a leader should be visible on the ground like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He further stated that a state can’t be administered from home.

Reacting to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar’s interview published in ‘Saamana’, Rane said that the interview was planned as it focused on political past instead of answering the problems prevailing in the current situation.

He further took a dig at Shiv Sena saying that ‘Saamana’ carried Pawar’s interview because there’s no leader left in Sena who can be interviewed.

During the marathon interview, Pawar had taken a dig at Fadnavis saying that “Mi Punha Yein (I will come back)” claim backfired as voters felt the need to teach a lesson thinking that this stance was arrogant.

However, backing Devendra Fadnavis, Rane said that Fadnavis’ statement was filled with confidence and not pride or arrogance. The BJP leader further said that during his tenure, Fadnavis has done a good job as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
