Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Monday said that new leaders are needed in order to rejuvenate the party. Pawar was addressing the party workers in Mumbai.

On the occasion of 20th anniversary of the party, Pawar said that many young leaders were given the opportunity when NCP came to power 20 years ago. Pawar further informed that nearly 50 per cent leaders contesting the upcoming state assembly polls can be fresh faces.

The young leaders became ministers and helped in the expansion of the party. After evaluating the new faces in the party, they should be inducted in the electoral process,” Pawar asserted.

Meanwhile, there is an ongoing conflict between NCP leader Ajit Pawar and party’s supremo Sharad Pawar regarding the alleged EVM tampering in recently held Lok Sabha elections. While calling EVM tampering a “real problem”, Pawar said that people were disappointed and angry after the LS poll results.
