Women activists enters Haji Ali’s Sanctum

Worli - On Tuesday, after several years of wait, women activists of Bhartiya Muslim Mahila Andolan finally entered the Sanctum Sanctorum of Haji Ali. Suspecting the protest from Haji Ali trust, Mumbai police had beefed up the security around Haji Ali.
Mumbai HC had made a historical judgment on 26th August about allowing the women to enter the Sanctum Sanctorum of Haji Ali which was considered as a taboo for women. However, Bhartiya Muslim Mahila Andolan founder Noorjahan Niyaaz and co-founder Zakiya Soman filed a PIL regarding the same. Following to which, HC upheld the PIL and allowed the women to enter the dargah.
