Mumbai contributed engine logistics for the well-known "Pragyan" rover and "Vikram" lander in the successful Chandrayaan 3 mission. The Vikhroli plant of Godrej Aerospace produced the thruster-type engine used in both of these essential parts.

For this mission, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) purchased a variety of materials from domestic businesses. The 'boosters' used to power the aircraft were bought from Larsen & Toubro (L&T). Tata Consultancy Engineering Limited did the engineering work for the aircraft's wings and other materials. Godrej Aerospace produced the two cryogenic engines for space travel that were used to launch the spacecraft into Earth orbit. Godrej also contributed to the "Pragyan" rover and the "Vikram" lander, both of which successfully landed on the lunar surface on Wednesday, August 23.

According to information provided by the officials, the Pragyan rover was inside the Vikram lander. For two days, the Pragyan rover had been rotating or orbiting the moon. In the last phase, the Pragyan rover successfully touched down on the lunar surface from a height of 30 km in 11 minutes. The Pragyan rover successfully exited the Vikram lander after it safely touched down on the lunar surface. The lander and the rover were each equipped with two low-power thruster engines. The engine was produced at the Vikhroli plant of Godrej Aerospace.

"The Ch-3 Rover ramped down from the Lander and India took a walk on the moon," stated ISRO. The Pragyan Rover's main goal is to conduct in-situ scientific investigations on the lunar surface. By revealing the geological mysteries of the Moon, these investigations will offer priceless information on the structure and background of the body.

In a zero-gravity environment, a spacecraft is propelled by thrusters. Pragyan rover received '4800 Newton' force under this. The concerned authority was told that this force was roughly 408 kg. Meanwhile, the engineers and workers involved in the project celebrated the success of Vikram Lander together at the Godrej facility on August 23.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on X, formerly known as Twitter declared the Chandrayaan 3 mission to be a proud occasion for all Indians. The CM stated that it "demonstrates the success of all scientists". “Today is a moment every Indian should be proud of... Our India, which is known as the country of intellectuals, has achieved this glorious, historic success today... The Vikram lander of 'Chandrayaan 3' mission landed on the moon and the most important milestone of this mission was completed today... All Indians are filled with pride with this success. This is the success of all the scientists, technicians and researchers of the country. The strength of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji's directive leadership and support is behind the scientists,” he added.

Opposition leaders also appreciated this achievement, NCP chief Sharad Pawar named Chandrayaan-3 as India's most significant space exploration effort. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray also congratulated ISRO.

The nation is proud of its scientific community, said former Maharashtra chief minister and Congress leader Ashok Chavan.

In Mumbai, commuters spontaneously celebrated India's successful Moon mission at a number of suburban train stations, including Mumbai CSMT and Andheri.
