On the occasion of World Read Aloud Day, Scholastic India has launched an all-new Read Aloud Channel on YouTube with the aim of raising the next generation of readers. The channel would be expertly curated with a treasury of Scholastic's best books read by some of the best storytellers across the country.

Scholastic believes that reading aloud matters in the holistic growth of a child and this channel would provide the platform for an immersive experience into the world of books. You never know, the right book can turn your child into a lifelong reader. Reading, in turn, helps instil confidence, build literacy skills and ultimately, helps excel in academics.

According to a survey conducted by Scholastic India, more than 77 per cent of children believe reading books for fun is extremely or very important. This includes leisure books or storybooks and not the books that are part of their curriculum. 91 per cent of parents say that reading aloud is extremely important in developing a child’s language skills. Parents of children aged 0–5 have said that they primarily started reading aloud to their child because they want them to start learning about letters and words, and because they want their child to enjoy books.

That's not all, all the videos come with an activity sheet, which can be downloaded and solved with the kids to encourage discussion and improve their comprehension skills. The channel would be updated with new videos every fortnight to keep an audience of young readers engaged and entertained.

Managing Director of Scholastic India Neeraj Jain stated, ''We hope our endeavour will help make read-aloud sessions a cherished ritual for families and will encourage the children to explore the joys of reading.''
