The fuel rates witnessed a hike for the third consecutive day on Friday, October 22. The state oil companies increased the prices of petrol and diesel by 33-37 paise per litre for each fuel across Maharashtra.

With this, the petrol price in Mumbai stands at INR 112.78 per litre after an increase of 34 paise. The diesel, which rose by 37 paise, is being sold at INR 103.63 per litre.

Meanwhile, the cost of petrol has touched INR 112.58 per litre in Thane and Navi Mumbai, whereas diesel is sold at INR 103.39.

Today’s hike saw a steepest rise in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district, where the petrol price has reached INR 115-mark per litre.

However, in the state, Amravati saw the highest rise of petrol and diesel prices to INR 112.84 and INR 104.80 per litre respectively.

Following this continues hike, Congress has announced to launch a state-wide agitation from November 14 to 29 to protest against spiralling fuel prices and essential commodities.

The decision was taken at the first meeting of the state executive committee presided over by state president Nana Patole on Thursday, October 21.

After petrol prices hit the three figure mark in every state since oil companies began revising prices from May this year, diesel price too has hit the ₹100 mark or more in most parts of the country. At this rate diesel is likely to soon follow petrol and breach the three figure price across the country.

In India, fuel rates vary from state to country based on local taxes (VAT) and freight charges.
