As per reports, authorities from the NMA have recommended Vadodra-based Sankalp Bhumi Banyan tree campus and a place in Satara, Pratap Rao Bhosle High School, as Monument of National Importance.

National Monuments Authority (NMA), in a release shared on Friday, July 8, 2022, recommended two sites in the city, associated with the Father of Indian Constitution, Dr Ambedkar, to be declared as Monuments of National importance.

As per reports, authorities from the NMA have recommended Vadodra-based Sankalp Bhumi Banyan tree campus and a place in Satara, Pratap Rao Bhosle High School, as Monument of National Importance. It is being said that the locations hold a special place in the life of great social reformer.

The former, Vadodra-based Sankalp Bhumi Banyan tree campus was where Dr. Ambedkar had taken a resolve to eradicate untouchability on 23th September, 1917. This campus is believed to be over a century old was important for the beginning of social respect revolution heralded by the great leader. The second location. Pratap Rao Bhosle High School, in Satara (Maharashtra) was where Bhim Rao Ramji Ambedkar received his primary education.

As per reports, the school register even today shows Bhimarao’s signatures in Marathi and is now under Zila Parishad, dilapidated condition. 

Officials have informed that these recommendations have been placed before MoS Culture, Arjun Ram Meghwal by the National Monuments Authority. Adding more, the NMA Chairman said that this was a priceless heritage in the region of social harmony and equality and hence must be declared and preserved as Monument of National importance.
